He is the longest tenured Olympiacos Piraeus players; now in his eighth season with the Reds, Georgios Printezis is a staple in his boyhood club’s success. After finishing the 2011-12 season as a hero for scoring the Turkish Airlines Euroleague title-winning basket in Istanbul, the veteran forward delivered a number big games as Olympiacos marched to London, including a 26-point outburst in Game 1 of the playoffs against Anadolu Efes.
He scored his team’s first points of the Final Four and added 4 more points in the first five minutes against CSKA Moscow to help keep his team afloat early before the Reds got going. Even though he scoring stopped there, Printezis continued to contribute with rebounds and defense to earn a return ticket to the final. He came out ready against Real Madrid too and scored the game’s first basket with his classic baseline floater, reminiscent of his historic bucket from one year earlier. And 40 minutes later, Printezis was back on the podium as happy and proud as any player on the planet.
