During the following round in the Second Division Super League B tournament, BC Khimki hosted the opponent, Dynamo Teplostroy, in the Cheliabinsk Basketball Center. The rival is some places below in the standings on the tournament chart. The first day witnessed a very intense game, and Dynamo’s players gave a good game in the second quarter, however, it was not enough to win them the whole game.

Day one: 75-81 (17-12, 15-26, 15-13, 28-30).
Top Scorers: Pavlov (17), Mordakov (12 + 5 assists), Kuznetsov (12), Mozgov (11 + 14 rebounds + 2 bloqueos), Nikitchenko (11).

Day two had the visitors giving it their all during that same quarter of the game. This time, however, Khimki was able to put up a fight, and clinch a more decisive victory.

Day two: 94-75 (24-22, 9-26, 25-18, 36-9).
Top Scorers: Nikitchenko (19 + 6 rebounds), Goliakhov (17 + 4 assists), Kuznetsov (14 + 11 rebounds + 3 steals), Semerninov (11).

Head Coach for Khimki 2, Valery SIZOV, shared some thoughts:

— The obstacle was the zone defense; we were unable to find a way around the opponent, who kept using it intensely. We also made some errors with our points in the paint. Our defense also lacked in form. Something along these lines happened on day two, though only at the onset. Afterwards, obviously, the coaches were able to offer the right words. The team spirit is now good, they are in for the battle.

— We had been preparing for the match with the opponent next in line: the tough Metallurg Magnitogorsk, with a reinforced roster. It’s interesting that the standings on the table are very solid. From third to ninth place the teams have differences of one or two defeats. Given this, each victory is measured in gold.
