After the announcement of CSKAs swingman David Vanterpool’s serious injuries was made public their administration expressed an interest in acquiring BC Khimki’s forward Oscar Torres. As a result of lengthy negotiations a decision was reached, and in exchange for Torres, Khimki was dealt the rights over CSKAs reserve forwards Vladimir Diatchok and -at the end of the current season — Nikita Shabalkin. Khimki also obtained, on loan, CKSA guard, Alexei Shved, who will begin playing as of today.

Torres will assist CSKA in the Euro League ULEB TOP 16 games. Meanwhile, Diatchok, Shabalkin, and Shved, along with other young players with contracts in force with BC Khimki, will play in the main team of the Moscow Region in the near future.

General Director for BC Khimki, Víctor BYCHKOV explained:

— The negotiations were difficult and on several occasions we reached an impasse. But the club’s directors were able to successfully tackle the obstacles that got in the way.

— I would like to thank the vice president of PBK CSKA, Andrei Vatutin, for his fairness and savoir faire shown throughout the talks to reach out objectives.

— This is a first for Russian basketball to have a change on such a scale. We will make every effort so — and I am certain that — Vladimir (Diatchok), Nikita (Shabalkin), and Alexei (Shved) will feel right at home in our club, and will become key players for our team in the upcoming season.

— I also want to thank Torres for his magnificent game over the past two and a half years with our club, where he became, not only for the fans, but also for the club, one of our own.
