Euroleague. Cantu vs. BC Khimki26 october 2012

BC Khimki didn't manage to cope with nervousness and lost to Mapooro Cantu on the road — 54-67 (21-14, 11-21, 11-20, 11-12). The next game our team will play on the road on Monday, October 29, 2012 with BC Spartak St Petersburg.

BC Khimki: Planinic (10 + 7 assists + 3 rebounds + 1 block), Fridzon (10 + 2 assists + 2 rebounds), Augustine (8 + 6 rebounds + 3 steals), Loncar (8 + 5 rebounds + 2 assists), Rivers (7), Monya (4 + 2 rebounds + 2 assists), Vyaltsev (3), Davis (2 + 4 rebounds), Koponen (2)

Andrija Garvilovic, BC Khimki assistant coach:

— We prepared the game very well because we knew that playing here against Cantu is very difficult, because of the fans and because of the team. They always play with great intensity. We had to control the tempo of the game, but after a good start to the second quarter, when they increased their defensive pressure, we were unable to get the ball inside. In the second half we started again with the same mistakes, unable to move the ball and to get the ball to our big men, so it was 50 percent Cantu defense, and 50 percent our bad offense.

Kresimir Loncar:

— You cannot think about winning in Cantu, or anywhere in the Euroleague, when you score just 50 points. They played well on defense, but we did not execute. Our offense did not work from the second quarter until the end. We shot bad percentages from beyond the arc and to win with that is really tough.
