BC Khimki players on the road to Olympic Games 4 july 2008
Russian National team started the preparation for the Olympic Games in Peking. BC Khimki is represented by 4 players: guards Anton Ponkrashov, Vitaly Fridzon, forward Nikita Shabalkin and center Nikita Morgunov. Vitaly Fridzon gave his impressions of first practices in National team and about his vacations.
— I had enough time to relax. I went to Sochi. After it I visited my parents in Bryansk and having returned to Moscow Region I started to work out on my own. I realize that time till Olympic Games is getting short and I want to be in fighting form in August.
— As an every player I dream of Olympic Games. And I used to get on the court (on the practice too) for winning. I want to be included in the final roster. I will do my best for not to lose this opportunity.
— Our opponents on the Olympic Games will be Lithuania, Australia and Olympic champion – Argentina. These teams are very strong. But the match against Iran will not “easy drive”. I think now we shouldn’t discuss about the chances. Russian team is the European champion and we want to win.
