BC Khimki in Euroleague Junior Tournament30 march 2008
The representative youthful Euroleague Basketball Nike International Junior Classification Tournament among players born 1990-1991. Russia was represented by the team Khimki-2 and as headed by authoritative coach Zhidrunas Zhvinklis.
— This tournament was staged by under the aegis of Euroleaague – said the General Manager of BC Khimki Victor Bychkov. — It was very interesting competition with very strong participants. We are proud to receive the invitation to take part in this tournament, and our work with reserves was appreciated at its true value.
Our team placed 7th and left behind the famous clubs as “Prokom” Poland, “Olimpija” Slovenia, “Fenerbachshe” Turkey and Italian “Benetton”. But what is more important, it is very important experience, received by our young players in fights with great opponents.
The players of BC Khimki were marked individually. Maxim Zakharov was second in the slam dunk competition. Pavel Tarasenko took 4 place in the 3-pointers competitions. Among most scorers there are Vladimir Pichkurov and Teymuraz Babunashvili. Andrey Kirdyachkin was best rebounder.
