From 31 of May to 4 of June in Basketball Center Khimki Moscow Region will stage the IV Olympic Champion Alexander Boloshev International tournament started off. 12 teams participate in competitions.
The legendary victory of the Olympic Games in 1972 and the name Alexander Boloshev added the glorious page to history. Besides it, Boloshev is the world champion (1974), the silver medalist of the world championship (1978), the twice champion of Europe (1969, 1971), the silver medalist of the Europe an championship (1975), the bronze medalist of the Europe an championship (1973), the Student Games champion (1970), the triple bronze medalist of the USSR championships (1975, 1976, 1980).
In 1999 Mr. Boloshev came back to his native Moscow Region – to a recently formed basketball club Khimki where took a post of The Deputy General Director. He has become an icon of Moscow region club, and many young players emulate the Olympic champion.
He was given a medal ‘For the labor valour’ and ‘For merits before country of the third degree’. In 2006 he received an official message of gratitude from the President of Russia Vladimir Putin ‘For the major contribution to the development of national basketball’
In 2008 will stage the IV Boloshev tournament. Among participants the A.Sabonis basketball school, Serbian team “Sport’s world”, Belarusian team “Minsk-2006” and the best Russian basketball school – “Trinta” (Moscow), “Spartak-Vidnoe” (Moscow Region), “Olimp” (Nobokuibyshevsk), “Elbrus-Junior” (Cherkessk), CSKA, Ural-Great (Perm), @Samara@ amd the champion 2007 – BC Khimki.
