BC Khimki bulks up with Loncar, Savrasenko 13  july  2010

BC Khimki Moscow region keeps getting ready for the upcoming 2010-11 Euroleague Qualifying Rounds by inking big men Aleksey Savrasenko and Kresimir Loncar to respective two-year deals, the club announced Tuesday.
Savrasenko (215, 31) arrives from Dynamo Moscow, where he averaged 11.1 points and 6.1 rebounds in 6 Eurocup games last season. He helped Dynamo to reach the Russian League semifinals. He has also played for Spartak St. Petersburg and CSKA Moscow in Russia, as well as for Olympiacos and Peristeri in Greece. Savrasenko helped CSKA to win two Euroleague titles in 2006 and 2008. He also lifted five consecutive Russian League trophies from 2003 to 2008 before leaving the club to join Spartak in January 2009. As a teenager, he helped Olympiacos to win its only Euroleague title in 1997. Savrasenko also won the EuroBasket 2007 with Russia and played the 2008 Olympic games with his national team. Meanwhile, Loncar (210, 27) arrives from Unics, where he averaged 13 points and 4.8 rebounds in 12 Eurocup games last season. He helped Unics to win the Russian Cup title in 2009, earning final MVP honors. Loncar has also played for Lokomotiv Rostov in Russia, BC Kyiv in Ukraine, Teramo Basket and Benetton Treviso in Italy, Wurzburg in Germany and Split in Croatia. He helped Benetton to win the Italian League title and reach the Euroleague final in 2003. Loncar also led Kyiv to lifet the Ukrainian League trophy in 2005. Loncar is also a regular member of the Croatian national team. He helped Croatia to win a silver medal at the 2001 World under-21 Championships. Loncar and Savrasenko replace Timofey Mozgov and Robertas Javtokas. "We have followed Loncar for a long time and wanted to have him in our team. He is experienced, knows the Russian League and has great desire to play in the Euroleague," Khimki head coach Sergio Scariolo said. "We also welcome Aleksey Savrasenko to our team. He is a powergul player, very able to fight under the boards. We will be very useful for us."
