27-year old swingman Keith Langford (193-G/F-83) put on an amazing game in the last round for second-ranked BC Khimky Moscow Region and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 3.
He had the game-high 27 points adding nine rebounds and four assists for Khimky in his team's victory, helping them to beat N.Novgorod (#9, 0-2), the league's worst team 85-75. Khimky was forced-out from the top positions in Russian league. They maintain perfect record without any lost game in the league. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Khimky won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Langford had a remarkable 62.5% from 2-point range. It's his second year at Khimky and it's hard to imagine this team without him. University of Kansas graduate has very impressive stats this year. Langford is in league's top in points (2nd best: 20.0ppg) and averages solid 57.1% FGP.
Second best performed player last round was Maciej Lampe (210-C-85) of Unics Kazan. He is Polish-Swedish center in his first season at Unics. In the last game Lampe recorded impressive double-double of 27 points and 10 rebounds. Bad luck as Unics was edged by Krasnie Krilya (2-1) 84-81. The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Lampe is a newcomer at Unics and quickly became the team's new leader. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 21.7ppg (#1). He also registered 9.3 boards per game.
Third place about best performers goes to forward Jeremiah Massey (202-F-82) of Lokomotiv Kuban (#4). Massey scored 17 points and grabbed eleven rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Lokomotiv Kuban, leading his team to a 89-71 easy win against Dynamo M. (#7, 1-2). Lokomotiv Kuban needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 2 victories and 1 lost games. Massey has a great season in Russia. After only 3 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 14.3ppg (8th best) and rebounds with 9.0rpg (4th best).
