Unics Kazan continued building a roster for its first Turkish Airlines Euroleague season by signing point guard Marcus Williams, who will also make his debut in the competition. Williams (1.91 meters, 25 years old) spent last season in Russia playing for Enisey, where he produced 15.3 points and led the league with 6.8 assists per game. It was his first season in Europe. Williams first made a name for himself playing college basketball at the University of Connecticut, where he spent three seasons. He next played in the NBA between 2006 and 2010 and averaged 5.6 points and 2.8 assists in 203 games for New Jersey, Golden State and Memphis. He was named to the NBA all-rookie second team after the 2006-07 season, when he posted 6.8 points and 3.3 assists over 79 games. Williams also played for Team USA at the World Under-21 World Championships in 2005.
