BC Khimki bolstered its lineup in both size and experience by signing former Eurocup champ Marijonas Petravicius. Petravicius (2.07 meters, 32 years old) was named 2009 Eurocup Finals MVP after leading Lietuvos Rytas to the title.
He posted 20 points and 7 rebounds in the title game against Khimki. Petravicius has suffered from injury problems in recent seasons. Last year he averaged 8.2 points and 3.2 rebounds in just 15 minutes per game for Armani Milano in the Euroleague and 3.9 points and 2.1 boards in 9 minutes in the Italian League. That was his second season with Milan. Before that he played three seasons with L. Rytas, during which he also won the Baltic League twice and the Lithuanian League, Lithuanian Cup and Baltic Presidents' Cup titles. Petravicius previously played for Ventspils in Latvia, Oostende in Belgium and Mitteldeutscher in Germany. He helped Mitteldeutscher win the 2004 FIBA Europe Cup title — earning final game MVP honors — and lifted the Latvian League trophy with Ventspils in 2006. Petravicius also played for the Lithuanian national team at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
