BC Khimki Moscow Region continued getting ready for its Turkish Airlines Euroleague return next season by inking scoring ace K.C. Rivers to a two-year deal, the club announced Wednesday.
Rivers (1.96 meters, 25 years old) arrives from another Russian club, Lokomotiv Kuban, where he averaged 9.5 points on 45.2% three-point shooting and 4.1 rebounds in 8 Eurocup this season. Rivers helped Loko to reach the Eurocup Quarterfinals, make it to the VTB League final four and finish third in the Russian League. He had joined Loko from Canadian Solar Bologna of Italy, where he averaged 17.3 points and 4.4 rebounds in 17 Italian League games in 2010-11. He had started the 2010-11 season with Chorale Roanne, averaging 10.2 points and 3.3 rebounds in 6 Eurocup games before joining Bologna. Rivers graduated from Clemson University in 2009 and joined A.B. Latina from the Italian Legadue, where he averaged 24.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.8 steals per game in his first professional stop. He moved to Benetton Basket midway through the 2009-10 season before joining Roanne.
"Rivers is a young player, full of energy. I see great potential in him," Khimki head coach Rimas Kurtinaitis said. "He is a good shooter and a strong addition in the '2' and '3' positions. I think he will be very successful with us."
