What has already been a brilliant Eurocup rookie season for ratiopharm Ulm center John Bryant just got better. The big man continued his fantastic Last 16 with his best game yet, dominating the paint against Galatasaray Medical Park to the tune of 20 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists.
That performance not only led Ulm to a 91-70 victory and a real shot a quarterfinals spot, but also earned Bryant Last 16 Game 4 MVP honors. Bryant finished the week with a performance index rating of 36, which was best in the competition. He made 7 of 11 two-point shots, added 1 three-pointer and was perfect in 3 trips to the foul line. Bryant’s 17 rebounds were the most in the Eurocup in the past two seasons. The second-best index rating for the week came from Lokomotiv Kuban forward Derrick Brown with 32 in his team’s 83-72 victory over Cajasol Sevilla. Brown, who was the Regular Season Game 6 MVP, did not miss from the field as he racked up 20 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Tied for third in the list of the week’s most-outstanding performances are Artur Drozdov of BC Budivelnik Kiev and Carlos Arroyo of Galatasaray. Drozdov helped his team to a 75-77 road win at KK Buducnost Voli with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 steals for a 26 index. Arroyo reeled off 23 points and 5 assists. Rounding out the list of the week’s best is Spartak St. Petersburg guard Zach Wright, who led his team to a quarterfinals-clinching win over Stelmet Zielona Gora, 81-54, with 17 points, 8 assists and 4 steals.

Arroyo was the week’s top scorer with 23 points. Bryant rose to seventh in the Last 16 with 19 points per game, while Chuck Davis of Banvit big man Chuck Davis remains the Last 16 leader with 21.3 point per game. Bryant was the week’s best rebounder and is the Last 16 leader with 12.3 rebounds per game and the fill-season leader with 9.8 per game. BC Triumph Lyubertsy guard Tywain McKee led all players in Last 16 Game 4 with 10 assists. His 7.3 assists per game trail only Nick Calathes and his 8 per game for the Last 16 lead. McKee shared the weekly lead in steals with Valencia basket’s Justin Doellman at 6 steals apiece. McKee and Doellman are tied for second in the Last 16 with 2.3 steals per game; Calathes leads this stage with 2.8 per game. Spartak’s Josh Carter rejected 3 shots to lead all players in Last 16 Game 4. He is now second to Cajasol center Ondrej Balvin for Last 16 blocks. Carter has 1.5 blocks per game, Balvin is at 1.8 Bryant was one of five players to record a double-double in the week’s eight games: Bryant, Cedomir Vitkovac (18 points, 10 rebounds) of Buducnost, Kyle Landry (17 points, 13 rebounds) and McKee (10 points, 10 assists) of Triumph and Aleks Maric (14 points, 11 rebounds) of Lokomotiv.
