In arguably one of the most intense game in the 2013-14 Eurocup so far, Khimki Moscow Region improved to 2-1 in Group E by edging Hapoel Migdal Jerusalem 80-87 in double overtime on Tuesday. Petteri Koponen paced the winners with 20 points and 6 rebounds but Sergey Monya was the man of the game, forcing a second overtime with a big three-pointers and adding two more right after that to put his team ahead for good. Monya had 18 points and 10 rebounds, Marko Popovic added 17 points, Mickael Gelabale had 16 while James Augustine got 10 and 9 rebounds for Khimki.
Josh Duncan led Hapoel with 23 points. Derwin Kitchen added 19 on 10-of-10 free throws, Art Parakhouski had 12 while Ronald Dupree and Yotam Halperin each got 10 for the hosts, which trailed 62-68 with less than a minute to go in regulation. Kitchen, Halperin and Dupree made Hapoel force overtime, 68-68. Hapoel led 76-73 late in the first extra period but Monya's heroics allowed Khimki to extend the game for 5 more minutes, 76-76. Monya took over in overtime and led Khimki to a hard-fought road win.

Duncan gave Hapoel a 3-0 lead but Popovic struck twice from downtown in an 0-11 run that put Khimki ahead, 3-11. Gelabale buried his own three-pointer and Augustine soon made it a double-digit game, 5-16. Kitchen and Parakouhski stepped up for Hapoel but Augustine singlehandedly kept the guests way ahead, 13-21, after 10 minutes. Koponen downed a triple early in the second quarter but he didn't find much help around. Meanwhile, Elishay Kadir and Duncan allowed Hapoel to get within 21-26. Gelabale and Monya downed respective three-pointers to give Khimki fresh air at 23-32. Another three-pointer by Gelabale kept Khimki ahead, 28-37, but Kadir, Halperin and Kitchen brought Hapoel a bit closer, 34-40, at halftime. Koponen nailed a triple after the break and Gelabale soon gave Khimki a 34-45 edge. Kitchen and Parakhouski fueled a 9-1 run that brought Hapoel back in the game, 43-46. Gelabale kept pacing Khimki and a triple by Koponen gave Khimki a 48-54 edge. Halperin kept the hosts within 52-57 after 30 minutes. Popovic struck from downtown but Hapoel improved its defense and a 6-0 run which Duncan capped with a jumper made it a two-point game, 58-60, with over 4 minutes left. Popovic scored again but Dupree and Kitchen tied it at 62-62. Kresimir Loncar shined with a critical basket and Popovic made it a six-point game, 62-68, with under a minute left in regulation. Kitchen, Halperin and Dupree allowed Hapoel to force overtime, 68-68. Kitchen gave Hapoel a 74-70 edge midway through first overtime but Monya followed a jumper with a three-pointer to send the game to a second overtime, 76-76. Monya opened the second overtime period with a pair of three-pointers, making it 11 straight points for the Khimki forward. Kitchen netted a pair of free throws for the hosts, but Augustine made great plays at both ends to keep Khimki in charge. Then Koponen sank another three to make it 78-87 as the fatigued Jerusalemites started to fade. A pair of Duncan free throws could not spark the hosts as Khimki marched forward for a tough win.
