Collaboration is part of Khimki’s approach to unite professional sport bodies, some of Russia’s leading sport universities, the local educational authorities and high school communities for the purpose of bringing young people in the community closer to sport.

In this One Team programme's inaugural meeting, five student volunteers and two university lecturers who will supervise them were introduced to the plans and ideas of the project by One Team Khimki ambassador Vitaly Nosov, One Team coach Miron Lebedev, One Team manager Anna Sidneva and the Dean of the Pedagogical Institute of the Physical Culture and Sport, Mr. Vadim Rodionov.

In explaining how Khimki’s One Team programme will work, Nosov and Lebedev spoke about the work they had done with children so far, and answered the questions of the student volunteers. After the meeting, a working group headed by the Mr. Rodionov was formed in order for student volunteers to learn the practical pedagogical material, which will be used as a basis for the production of new One Team drills by the students.

"I have a lot of hope for our new collaboration with the sports college of the Moscow City Teacher Training University. We've gathered a small but enthusiastic group of five young people to whom we are eager to pass on our One Team philosophy and experience," Nosov, Khimki's One Team Ambassador, said.

"These student volunteers from the faculty of physical education will accompany both me and our One Team coach, Miron, at our weekly school sessions until the end of the 2015-16 season. At the same time, the students will also try to work on producing their own didactic material based on the principles of the One Team sessions provided by the Euroleague. I am happy to have this opportunity to transfer my knowledge to the young generation of educators. Participation in our One Team programme has given these students the chance to gain a much richer perspective on their future profession."

Nosov and Lebedev appointed the volunteers to the three groups of children Khimki has been working with as part of it current One Team programme this season. Those three groups were found thanks to the involvement of Khimki fans.

Basketball Club Khimki has always taken pride in trying to establish a personal relationship with its fan base. So, it was only natural to turn for advice to club's longtime fans while working on the expansion of One Team Khimki. Such effort resulted in Artem Pashkin, a faithful club follower who works as a specialist at the Khimki Department of Education, helping the club find a group of children who truly benefit from One Team. His personal involvement and goodwill allowed the club to bring the program to 65 kids at two local schools.

In turn, the support from the Khimki Department of Education enabled the club to begin collaboration with a partner university, which started a new One Team programme while simultaneously enhancing the current one.

"Children are the future, and it is up to us now what this future will be. We at the Khimki Department of Education found the club's social initiative both unexpected and innovative," Pashkin said. "Moreover, One Team Khimki is a unique community programme for our town. I am not aware of any similar initiatives by any other local professional sport clubs in Khimki. We believe that the club's programme has been a success so far, in both its format and content, aiding greatly the all-around social development of our children."
