Khimki Moscow Region added another weapon to its backcourt by signing veteran guard Jacob Pullen.
The contract is for one month with an option to extend it for the rest of the season. Pullen (1.85 meters, 26 years old) arrives from Cedevita Zagreb, which he led to the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Top 16 last season with a team leading 13.5 points plus 2.8 assists over 24 games. He also helped Cedevita reach the Adriatic League semifinals after posting 14.4 points and 3.2 assists per game in that competition and captured the Croatian League and Cup double.
Pullen has also played for FC Barcelona and Baloncesto Sevilla of Spain; Enel Basket Brindisi, Angelico Biella and Virtus Bologna of Italy and Hapoel Jerusalem of Israel. He helped Barcelona reach the EuroLeague Final Four and win the Spanish League title in 2014. Pullen also set a Spanish League record for most three-point shots made in a game with 12 against CB Valladolid. Pullen first rose to prominence as a college star at Kansas State University, where he was the team captain in three of his four seasons. He was twice selected to the All-Big 12 Conference First Team and the All-Big 12 Defensive Team. Pullen graduated as the Wildcats’ career leader in scoring (2,132 points), three-pointers made (299) and steals (210). He has also been a member of the Georgian national team.
"We need another point guard for the start of the season so we decided to invite Jacob Pullen to the roster," Khimki head coach Dusko Ivanovic said. "The contract was agreed for one month, but it will depend on how Jacob will play. After that, we’ll decide if he stays with the team or not. He is a player with big experience who can play positions one and two. Jacob is a good shooter but I need more his efforts in defense and organization in our game."
