Build-Up
Once again, Krasnoyarsk had to play without team MVP Frank Elegar. But the fans were able to enjoy Suleiman Braimoh’s Sixth Man of the Year award as well as celebrate head coach Oleg Okulov’s birthday prior to tip-off, raising spirits in Arena.Sever.
Unfortunately for the home team, Khimki took control of the game almost immediately. Alexey Shved scored eight points early to give the visitors the lead, though Enisey was able to cut the deficit to 22-21 at the end of the 1st quarter.
The 2nd quarter belonged to Moscow Region. Once again, Shved sparked the offense with help from Egor Vyaltsev on the perimeter. Anthony Hilliard (15 points in the first half) was able to keep Enisey alive, but the home team trailed by 10 points at halftime, 49-39.
Turning Point
As in Game 2, the 3rd quarter proved decisive. The visitors stayed hot with Todorovic, Hummel and Brown joining the party on offense. Enisey struggled to get going inside, relying on spotty three-point shooting.
Khimki led by 17 points at the end of three quarters and would go on to win comfortably. The victory gives Khimki a 3-0 sweep in the series and sets up a semifinal matchup with Zenit St. Petersburg.
