Panathinaikos center Ian Vougiouskas and his BC Khimki counterpart Dmitry Sokolov were teammates at UNICS Kazan during the 2013/2014 season, and they reached EuroCup Finals together.
Sokolov scored a career-best 17 points and posted his career high in index rating with 23 playing for CSKA Moscow against Panathinaikos in December of 2010.

PRE-GAME QUOTES
Georgios Bartzokas, BC Khimki head coach:
“We have to consider that during the year, at home, Panathinaikos loses games very rarely. So, everybody understands how difficult is our mission over there, especially without Honeycutt and Gill. Right now, they are playing with confidence, after their win in Piraeus over Olympiacos. Of course, there are a lot of problems that Panathinaikos is creating to the opponents, basically playing in the lineup with Gist and Singleton as two forwards, who are so mobile. We have to play well if we want to win. We need to be very stable and consistent for forty minutes on both end, defensively and offensively. OAKA is a very warm arena but we just need to focus on the game”.
Malcolm Thomas, BC Khimki forward:
“They are a top team with veteran EuroLeague players. They know how to play together. We can’t have a first half like we did last game vs. Baskonia because they know how to execute and we might not be able to pick it up if we come out slow. So, definitely we have to start the game strongly and focused, executing our plays. I’ve never played at Panathinaikos arena but heard a lot about it from our coaches and players. I’ve heard the atmosphere is crazy but we have to go to block it out and just focus on the game”.
