Quietly off to another standout season as one of basketball’s great sixth men, Ksistof Lavrinovic of Montepaschi Siena stood out with his best game of the season so far on Wednesday to lead his team to an important road win and to secure Sportingbet Week 6 MVP honors.
Lavrinovic had his highest-scoring game since opening night of last season with 23 points plus 8 rebounds, 2 steals and 10 fouls drawn for a career-high performance index rating of 36. His superlative effort helped Siena beat Cholet Basket 61-70 on the road to remain tied for the best record, 5-1, in Group C. His index rating also tied Sportingbet Week 4 MVP Berni Rodriguez of Unicaja for the best of any player this season. Caja Laboral center Stanko Barac had the second-best index rating of the week, 34, in his team’s 81-70 loss at Maccabi Electra. Barac finished with 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks. Cibona Zagreb scorer Bojan Bogdanovic nailed 5 triples and racked up 26 points for a 24 index rating despite his team's 75-94 loss against Regal FC Barcelona. Bogdanovic was Week 6’s No. 1 scorer with his 26-point effort against Barcelona. He also catapulted to the top of the scoring charts with a 17.8 points per game average, knocking two-time Alphoso Ford Top Scorer Trophy winner Igor Rakocevic to second place. Zalgiris big man Paulius Jankunas leads all Euroleague players with 8.7 rebounds on average. Two players – Omar Cook of Power Electronics Valencia and Saso Ozbolt of Union Olimpija – dished 9 assists in Week 6, more than any other players.
