Spartak St. Petersburg put the finishing touches on its roster by signing big man Kirill Pishchalnikov (203-F-87), who returns to his homeland after playing college basketball in the United States.
Pishchalnikov played three seasons at Virginia Commonwealth University, where he averaged 2.6 points and 2.3 rebounds per game last season. He helped the Rams win the Colonial Athletic Association regular season crown twice during his time there. As a member of the Russian junior national teams, Pishchalnikov won a silver medal at the 2004 European under-16 Championships in Greece. He led the tournament in rebounding with 14.5 per game.

'Pischalnikov is a young player. He needs to have more experience and to adapt to European basketball,' Spartak head coach Zvi Sherf said. 'But Kirill has a great desire to play, he is strong and has a good body.'
