Three players scored 12 points as Galatasaray edged Spartak Saint Petersburg in the first leg of the Eurocup Qualifying Round in Turkey. The Turkish side celebrated 69:58 win before the second leg in Russia.
The Russian team opened the game with 4-0 and Rancik brought later the lead for the hosts at 7:6. Shipp made it 11:8, while he also closed the period at 15:11. In the second period Galatasaray stayed in front for the whole time, although sometimes the lead was not that big. Kuqo made two free throws at the end of the half for 36:29. Domercant reduced to 36:31 at the start of the third period and Miha Zupan (205-F/C-82) cut it to 40:35. Shumpert nailed three at the end of the period for 51:41 advantage. Both teams had different goals for the last quarter as the hosts tried to increase the lead before the second leg. Spartak meanwhile tried to reduce the gap in order to feel more comfortable at home. Miha Zupan made the final result in the game as Galatasaray edged Spartak Saint Petersburg 69:58.
Evren Buker (194-F-85), Joshua Shipp (196-G/F-86, college: UCLA) and Ermal Kuqo (208-C-80, agency: Beo Basket) paced all the winners with 12 points each. Miha Zupan responded with 14 points for the visiting side. Petar Popovic (211-C-79) netted 10 and Dijon Thompson (201-G/F-83, college: UCLA) scored 9.
