The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute susprises and upsets.
Eighth-ranked Krasnie Krilya (7-15) used its home court advantage to challenge fourth ranked Spartak St.Petersburg (15-8) in Samara on Sunday. The visitors from St.Petersburg managed to secure only one-point victory 72-71. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 29-18. But Krasnie Krilya won third quarter 21-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Spartak St.Petersburg made 24-of-29 free shots (82.8 percent) during the game. American guard Patrick Beverley (185-88, college: Arkansas) saved the victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds. The former international guard Anton Ponkrashov (200-86, agency: RIZO) contributed with 16 points for the winners. American guard Brion Rush (186-84, college: Grambling St., agency: Court Side) answered with 9 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for Krasnie Krilya. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Spartak St.Petersburg moved-up to third place, which they share with CSKA. Krasnie Krilya lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 15 games lost. Spartak St.Petersburg is looking forward to face league's leader Unics Kazan at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Krasnie Krilya will play against the league's leader Unics Kazan (#1) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.

It was a great evening for American guard Terrell Lyday (190-79, college: BYU) who led his team to a victory scoring 39 points (!!!) and 5 steals (on 14-of-16 shooting from the field). Maciej Lampe helped adding 19 points and 8 rebounds. American center Lonny Baxter (204-79, college: Maryland, agency: Priority Sports) responded with 23 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Unics Kazan have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 16-5 record. Enisey Krasnoyarsk at the other side keeps the sixth position with 12 games lost. Unics Kazan will play against Krasnie Krilya (#8) in Samara in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Enisey Krasnoyarsk will play on the road against Dynamo Moscow and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Ivan Paunic came up with 19 points for BC Nizhny Novgorod in the defeat. BC Nizhny Novgorod's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Dynamo Moscow maintains ninth place with 7-16 record. Newly promoted BC Nizhny Novgorod keeps the seventh position with 15 games lost. Dynamo Moscow will meet at home higher ranked Enisey Krasnoyarsk (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. BC Nizhny Novgorod will play against Krasnie Krilya in Samara and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Dynamo — N.Novgorod 87-60

The game between ninth ranked Dynamo Moscow (7-16) and 7th ranked BC Nizhny Novgorod (8-15) in Moscow on Sunday ended with biggest points difference. Dynamo Moscow outscored guests from Nizhny Novgorod 87-60. The game without a history. Dynamo Moscow led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Dynamo Moscow forced 19 BC Nizhny Novgorod turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. It was a quality performance for international guard Eugeny Voronov (193-86) who led the winners and scored 19 points, 6 assists and 5 steals. Triumph — CSKA 83-87

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked CSKA Moscow (15-8) beat bottom-ranked Triumph Lyubertsy (4-18) in Lubertsy 87-83 on Wednesday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Triumph Lyubertsy won third quarter 26-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Triumph Lyubertsy 39-28 including 16 on the offensive glass. CSKA Moscow looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for international center Andrey Vorontsevich (204-87) who led the winners and scored 29 points and 9 rebounds. The former international swingman Viktor Khryapa (204-82) accounted for 14 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. The former international guard Egor Vyaltsev (192-85) came up with 21 points and 4 assists and American guard Tywain McKee (188-86, college: Coppin St.) added 23 points and 4 steals respectively for Triumph Lyubertsy in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Spartak SP. Triumph Lyubertsy lost tenth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 18 games lost. CSKA Moscow will meet at home league's second-placed Lokomotiv in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Triumph Lyubertsy will play against Khimky (#5) in Khimki and hope to secure a win.
