Zalgiris keeps team captain Jankunas

Zalgiris Kaunas has exercised its option to keep forward Paulius Jankunas for the 2012-13 season.
The team captain signed a two-year deal with an option for a third season with Zalgiris in the summer of 2010 and after meeting all expectations, the Lithuanian champs activated the option. Jankunas (2.03 meters, 28 years old) averaged 7.8 points and 5.6 rebounds in helping Zalgiris reach the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Top 16 last season. He ranked seventh in the league with 2.1 offensive rebounds per game. Jankunas enters his ninth season with the club. He has spent his entire career with Zalgiris spare the 2009-10 campaign, when he suited up for BC Khimki in Russia. He has collected a total of six Lithuanian League championships, four Lithuanian Cups and four Baltic League crowns during his career. Last season he helped Zalgiris claim all three titles. He averaged 10 points and 5.5 rebounds in the Lithuanian League last season.
