Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar improved its backcourt by inking combo guard Anton Ponkrashov for the remainder of the season, the club announced Tuesday. Ponkrashov (2.00 meters, 27 years old) arrives from Krasnye Krylia Samara, where he averaged 13.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.5 assists in 14 VTB League games this season.
Ponkrashov has also played for Spartak St. Petersburg, Conti St. Petersburg, CSKA Moscow and Khimki Moscow Region in Russia. He helped CSKA reach the Euroleague final in 2007, making it to three other Final Fours in 2010, 2012 and 2013. Ponkrashov won 4 Russian League, 3 Russian Cup and 3 VTB League titles with CSKA, as well as lifting another Russian Cup trophy with Khimki in 2008. Ponkrashov also helped Khimki reach the 2009 Eurocup title game and is a regular member of the Russian national team. He helped Russia win a gold medal at EuroBasket 2007 and also got respective bronze medals at EuroBasket 2011 and the 2012 Olympic Games in London, England. Ponkrashov has 68 games of Euroleague experience, in which he has accumulated 196 points.
