From Ostend to Madrid, the roadmap for 31 teams dreaming of Turkish Airlines Euroleague glory was unveiled at a pair of draws on Thursday in Barcelona. The 23 teams qualified for the 2014-15 Euroleague Regular Season were drawn into four groups of six teams, while the eight teams to compete in the qualifying rounds learned their opponents on the path to the last remaining regular season ticket.
The competition format is unchanged from recent seasons. At the end of the regular season, which runs from October 16 to December 19, the top four teams from each group will continue on to the Top 16, while the remaining eight squads will join the second phase of the Eurocup. After the Top 16, between December 30 and April 10, the top halves of two eight-team groups move on to the playoffs, four best-of-five series scheduled between April 14 and 28. Those series winners will meet with the title at stake at the 2015 Final Four at the Barclaycard Palacio de los Deportes in the Spanish capital from May 14 to 17.

The qualifying draw sends the eight Euroleague hopefuls to vie for a spot among the continent’s best in the qualifying rounds, scheduled for September 23 to 26 at Sleuyter Arena in Ostend, Belgium.

Before the draw, Euroleague Basketball President and CEO Jordi Bertomeu welcomed the club representatives and media members on hand as well as tens of thousands of fans watching on television and internet around the world. The Gold Devotion Marketing Award was presented to ALBA Berlin and EA7 Emporio Armani Milan president Livio Proli was honored as the Gianluigi Porelli Euroleague Executive of the Year for the 2013-14 season.
