ASVEL Lyon Villeurbanne named Nordine Ghrib as its as head coach, replacing Pierre Vincent. Ghrib, 49, made his debut on the team’s bench in a 90-99 road win over Boulogne-Sur-Mer in the French League over the weekend. He had been the team's assistant coach the last two seasons and from 2007 to November 2010, when he was promoted to head coach.
As assistant coach, he helped ASVEL win the French Cup in 2008 and win the French League in 2009. He has also coached Saint Chamond Basket in his native France. "We will do simple things to get started," Ghrib said. "It is hard to turn everything upside sown in so little time," he added.

Vincent had coached ASVEL in each of the previous three seasons and led the French women's national team to respective silver medals at the 2012 Olympic Games in London and at EuroBasket 2013 in France. He coached ASVEL to a 2-3 record in Group B this season.
