After having fallen to last place in Group D, Valencia Basket received more bad news Monday as starting point guard Sam Van Rossom will miss the rest of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Regular Season with a torn right buttock muscle.
The 28-year-old Van Rossom suffered the injury during a Spanish League game over the weekend. Valencia Basket doctors confirmed the injury on Monday and estimated his recovery time at six weeks. Van Rossom was averaging 29 minutes, 58 seconds per Euroleague game this season, the most on Valencia and 13th among all Euroleague players thus far. His 11.4 points per game made him Valencia's third-best scorer and his 5 assists tied Van Rossom for 11th in the Euroleague. His absence follows the departure of another point guard, Dwight Buycks, who was released after playing three Euroleague games for Valencia, which signed a new playmaker, Nemanja Nedovic, late last week.
