Baloncesto Seville reached an agreement with head coach Scott Roth to terminate his contract, the club announced late Thursday. Roth, 51, was hired before the start of the season. Roth and Seville qualified to the Eurocup Last 32 with a 5-5 regular season but have started 0-3 in their new Group L.
Seville has the worst defensive numbers in the Last 32, allowing 93.7 points per game. Sevilla has 3-14 record and sits last in the Spanish League standings. The team combined for 11 consecutive losses in both the Spanish League and the Eurocup, as its last win came on December 10, 2014 against SLUC Nancy in the Eurocup regular season. Roth had arrived from Detroit of the NBA, where he worked as assistant coach in the 2013-14 season. He has also worked as an assistant coach for Toronto, Golden State and Dallas of the NBA, the Canadian national team and the Turkish national team at the 2002 World Championships in Indianapolis, USA. As head coach, Roth worked for the Dominican national team and Bakersfield Jam of the D-League. Seville is now looking for a new coach.
