Khimki Moscow Region addressed the injuries to center Paul Davis by signing veteran big man Josh Boone for the remainder of the season. Boone (2.08 meters, 31 years old) will be available to make his Turkish Airlines Euroleague debut only after Round 7 of the Top 16 when the signings window opens for the final time this season. He arrives from Estonian club Kalev Tallinn, with whom he was leading the VTB United League in rebounding this season with an average of 11.5 boards over 14 games. Boone set a competition record with 20 rebounds against Enisey last month.
Boone helped the University of Connecticut to the NCAA championship in 2004, where he was a teammate of former Crvena Zvezda Telekom Belgrade playmaker Marcus Williams. He began his professional career in the NBA with New Jersey, for whom he appeared in 268 games over four seasons. He was the team’s starting power forward and averaged 8.2 points and 7.3 rebounds in 70 games. Boone spent most of the next two seasons playing for Zhejiang in China and has since played for Iowa in the NBA D-League, San Miguel Beermen in the Philippines and Al Manama of Bahrain before joining Kalev in September.

“Josh Boone is an experienced player who for a 31 year-old is pretty fast, nimble and takes a lot of rebounds. In short, a good athlete,” Khimki Coach Rimas Kurtinaitis said. “Boone on average takes more than 11 rebounds per game; 4 of them are in the offensive and he plays a position we needed strengthened, because Davis is injured, Augustine plays for 30 minutes, and he needs a replacement. Due to our busy schedule and the large number of games, players physically wear out by the end of the season and in the playoffs we just don't have whom to play. So now we are strengthening the front line and will allocate time for all players.”
