Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv announced Tuesday evening that star guard Jeremy Pargo signed a two-year contract extension that will keep him with the club through 2013.
Pargo comes off a brilliant Turkish Airlines Euroleague rookie season in which he was named to the All-Euroleague second team after posting 13 points and 4.3 assists per game. Pargo was at his best in the playoffs, leading Maccabi past Caja Laboral and to the Final Four in Barcelona. For his performances in the playoffs, Pargo was honored as the Sportingbet Euroleague MVP for March. Once he reached European basketball’s brightest stage, Pargo didn’t let up and proceeded to tie a Euroleague title game record with 9 assists, though it wasn’t enough to lift his team to the title. Now he will get two more chances.
“One of our goals here was to build a team that would stick together for several seasons and to encourage continuity,” head coach David Blatt said. “To have a team built with players that have both talent and character and fit into our vision. Jeremy Pargo symbolizes all those characteristics and I am very happy that he will continue with us.”
