Sergio Scariolo’s blog: about the forthcoming match Caserta – BC Khimki20 september 2010

In his personal blog, the head coach of BC Khimki Sergio Scariolo remembers the legendary players of Caserta and says about preparations of our team for the first qualification match in Euroleague.

Back to the Castelmorrone arena will surely be a special feeling for me.
How many battles against the legendary Juvecaserta of Bosha Tanjevic Franco Marcelletti, Nando Gentile, Enzino Esposito, Sandro Dell’Agnello, Charles Shackleford, Tellis Frank…
In Caserta I even played my last game on the bench of Scavolini Pesaro, when they eliminated us from the playoffs, the same year they’d later win the title that was ours in the previous season.

We're talking about basketball in black and white, also for the colour of the uniforms of our opponents that has remained the same despite having changed many sponsors since then: this year I will be back in Caserta with Khimki, for the 2010/2011 Euroleague qualifying rounds.

Pepsi today has got an athletic and talented team, that has clearly defined its asset having changed little since last year and obviously having maintained more or less the same systems, thank to the excellent coach Pino Sacripanti.

We need to be prepared for a major battle, knowing that we are still quite confused and uncoordinated in many moments of our game (we have trained only once with the full team, with the return of all players involved in the FIBA 2010 world championship).

Despite that, we must be immediately ready from the competitive point of view, because especially the first game in Caserta will be extremely challenging.
