Bizkaia Bilbao bolstered its frontline with center D'Or Fischer, who has blocked more shots over the past three Euroleague seasons than any other player.
Fischer (2.11 meters, 29 years old) arrives from Real Madrid, with whom he reached the Euroleague Final Four last season. Fischer was second in the league with 1.43 blocks per game last season in addition to averages of 6.2 points and 5.9 rebounds. He enjoyed a number of highlights during the season, including twice winning MVP of the week titles and scoring a buzzer-beating tip-in in overtime to give Madrid an early season victory over Bamberg. Fischer enters the season ranked second all-time in the competition with 1.63 blocks per game and needs just 7 more blocks to reach the all-time top 10 in accumulated blocked shots. Before joining Madird, Fischer played the previous two Euroleague seasons – his first two in Europe’s premier basketball competition – with Maccabi Tel Aviv. Fischer has also played for Euphony Bree, where he was named the 2007-08 Belgian League MVP after leading the league in rebounds, blocked shots and index ranking; and EWE Baskets Oldenburg, with whom he led the German League in blocked shots in the 2006-07 season; and Anwil Wloclawek in Poland.
