Khimki guard Petteri Koponen has been recognized as the 2014-15 VTB United League's Top Finnish Player.
This is the third year that the VTB United League has honored the top players in each country represented by League clubs. In the six countries with just one club (Latvia, Estonia, Belarus, Czech Republic, Kazakhstan and Finland), the league awards the prize. In Russia, which has 10 clubs, Russian information agency TASS partners with the league to name the top Russian player.
Koponen is the first player to receive the award from the VTB United League.
Koponen has played 31 games for Khimki, averaging 27.1 minutes, 15.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists and an efficiency rating of 16.4.
— Receiving this award is a big honor, — Koponen said in an interview with VTB-League.com. — I'm also happy that a Finnish team debuted in the VTB United League this season. It's a very strong competition and Bisons put in good work, defeating a lot of strong opponents. Overall, it's a big step in basketball's development in Finland. For my part, I'm happy to be selected the top representative of my country in the league.
