Koponen has played 31 games for Khimki, averaging 27.1 minutes, 15.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists and an efficiency rating of 16.4.

— Receiving this award is a big honor, — Koponen said in an interview with — I'm also happy that a Finnish team debuted in the VTB United League this season. It's a very strong competition and Bisons put in good work, defeating a lot of strong opponents. Overall, it's a big step in basketball's development in Finland. For my part, I'm happy to be selected the top representative of my country in the league.
