The second quarter began with the score 8-24 in favour of the Ukrainians. The main initiator of the chase has become the BC Khimki defender Imtiez Shoinbekov. Two of his distant timely throws allowed the team to recover from a knock-down start and to the big break the opponents went with an equal score.

In the second half of the match our players managed not only to maintain an advantage but also to increase to a comfortable result – already during the third quarter.

– I think the guys have had a complex before our today rival, – BC Khimki head coach Vladimir Pisarev said. – The fact is that a year ago there was a very important game between us with a similar scenario. We captured a solid head start, and eventually at the last second we lost the Ukrainians just one point. In the second quarter I managed to calm the guys. I can not say that we have changed anything in tactical schemes, we have just started to play more relaxed and found our own game. I would like to underline that Khimik is one of the favourites of this season.
