POST-GAME
Georgios Bartzokas, BC Khimki head coach:
“First of all, it was a very interesting game with a lot of publicity because they saw two unbeaten teams in the VTB League. Congratulations to CSKA; they managed to win [the game]. They have a lot of experience everywhere, in many parts of the game. Our team is not so experienced that means we lost the game as we lost concentration. In my opinion, that was the main reason why we lost. We lost our concentration and played the game how we should have not played. If you see the difference in assists and rebounds, you will easily understand why we lost this game. We needed to pass the ball more, to play more as a team and to be tougher in simple basketball things like rebounding, hustle, losing ball and things like this. If you allow CSKA with their great talent and experience to play their game and you cannot destroy it with your defensive ability, they will score 96 points at your home court. And, of course, that is not a defensive record to win this game. Anyway, honestly, I believe that it’s gonna be a good lesson, especially for our newcomers. As I always say, after one day we have to forget what happened because we have a very important game with Baskonia. If you ask about stability and consistency, I can say our team in ten days played with three out of four teams that were in the EuroLeague Final Four last season. Facing Olympiacos, Real Madrid and CSKA is not easy for a new team. But we must go on. As time foes by, we need to be more experienced and more ready to play this kind of games. We need to play with consistency for forty minutes, every game. Right now this is our priority”.
