Khimki coach Georgios Bartzokas was the Olympiacos head coach from 2012 until 2014; he guided the Reds to the 2013 EuroLeague title in London.

Current Olympiacos players Vassilis Spanoulis, Kostas Papanikolaou, Georgios Printezis, Vangelis Mantzaris and Dimitrios Agravanis all played under Coach Bartzokas when he was the head of bench at Olympiacos.

Khimki guard Stefan Markovic and Olympiacos center Nikola Milutinov have been teammates on the Serbian national team.

Markovic and Olympiacos forward Janis Timma were teammates at Zenit St. Petersburg during the 2016/2017 season.

Khimki's Alexey Shved and Sergey Monia played under Olympiacos coach David Blatt on the Russian national team. The three of them together won bronze medals at the Summer Olympics in 2012 and at EuroBasket in 2011. Monia and Blatt also won a EuroBasket gold medal in 2007. Egor Vyaltsev also played under David Blatt in the Russian national team.

Blatt also coached Monia at Dynamo Moscow during the 2008/2009 season.

Khimki big man Malcolm Thomas played under Coach David Blatt at Maccabi Tel Aviv for the first part of the 2012/2013 season.

Khimki guard Dee Bost and his Olympiacos counterpart Axel Toupane were teammates at Zalgiris Kaunas for the first part of last season.

Olympiacos forward Sasha Vezenkov played under current Khimki head coach Georgios Bartzokas at FC Barcelona Lassa during the 2016/2017 season.

Georgios Bartzokas, Khimki Moscow Region head coach:

“Olympiacos is a team that is trying to reach the Final Four. It’s a strong and experienced team, especially at home. This team has first three scorers basically in the frontline as Milutinov, Printezis and LeDay are leading the team in scoring. It’s a different team that we’ve used to play in the EuroLeague, so we need to be strong on this part of the game, trying to protect our paint from them”.

Charles Jenkins, Khimki Moscow Region guard:

“It’s always tough to play with Olympiacos, especially on the road. But we cannot step back as it is very close situation in the standings. So, to get to the playoffs we have to score as many wins in the remaining games as possible. Having defeated Fenerbahce, we proved we can beat anyone. We still continue fighting for the next round”.
